BIG DAY TOMORROW
Hello Kast Family, Well, tomorrow is a big day for Jenn. The first Chemo session. I know she is uptight about it. I know because I talked to her a little while ago and she is a bit testy. As usual, she didn’t listen to her Mom and she did too much today and is really tired. Then she read her instructions and realized she has to stay up to midnite to take her medications and then up again at 6 am to take another dose. In addition, she is trying to get things done tonight before she goes, just is case she is down and out for a couple…

Home Alone
Well, Mom’s gone home… My wonderful husband is at work and I’m home alone with the cat. Tried to do too much yesterday… and exhausted myself, so today trying to take it easy. I really didn’t do all that much, but guess it was too much for the current state of my body. I dusted the living room, swiffered the floor in the living room, dining room and front hallway and then used a wet swiffer on the floor in the living room, dining room and hallway.. then a load of laundry. Not much at all… but felt like I had been hit by a truck.  Wish I could have gotten some pictures…

Good news from the Doctor
Well, today was the follow up visit with the gyno-oncologist and we were given very good news. All biopsies show negative and it appears the cancer was contained within the tumor and had not spread. This is excellent news! Although the biopsies show there are no more cancer cells, I will still have to undergo chemo treatments.. but I think I can handle that.  Today’s good news can’t be overshadowed by some silly little thing like chemotherapy. I was a little dismayed to find out I had only lost one pound since the surgery. I mean really.. you take something out of me that you tell me is the size…

A Small Hello
Hi everyone, Mom promised I would make an appearance here, so I did not want to dissapoint. Sitting at the table is NOT an easy thing to do… but you are worth it ( and it gives me a great excuse to take one of those fun little pain pills 🙂 ) For the most part, I am feeling ok. Having a large amount of abdominal pain, but nurse Joan keeps telling me that will go away and I should feel ok by next week. We shall see 🙂  Mom and my darling Fuat have been fantastic about taking care of me ( and Teena has been fantastic about taking care of them 🙂…

GOOD MORNING KAST FAMILY
Well, another day ahead of us in beautiful Virginia. Cool this morning and sunny. Yesterday was HOT!!! Think today will be a little pleasanter. Jenn is doing well, although she doesn’t always think so. She’s plenty sore and still has those very uncomfortable gas pains. Hopefully that will start to ease up for her. She is walking a path around her living room and kitchen every couple of hours. And eating and already worrying about gaining weight. She is thin enough a couple of pounds won’t hurt, but she can’t really eat enough right now to do any damage. We go downstairs to shower as it is a step in…

AT HOME
Hello Everyone, Well, we are in the first full day at home, got here yesterday in the early afternoon. The rest of the day was one of adjustments as we had to figure out where to sit, lay, stand, etc. no more electric bed or call lights or IV pain meds. Just Fuat and I falling all over ourselves and each other trying to take care of Jenn. I went shopping and picked up a couple of things like a shower seat and a hand held shower head. Neither one will work here. Tub too narrow and shower connection the wrong one. So much for that trip. We decided that…

A QUICK UPDATE
Good morning Kast Family, It’s early here in Richmond and still cool. I have the window open feeling the nice breeze. It won’t last however, the warm (hot) weather is here with a vengeance. Jenn had a good day yesterday. She was up several times and we did the halls and waiting rooms and looked out windows and all the usual stuff. This hospital has a beautiful campus. Jenn can look out her windows and see the trees, birds and squirrels and it is so calming to see the trees moving slowly in the wind. If you look down there is a little garden area with benches and flowers. The azaleas…

ANOTHER JENN SHOW
Hello Kast Family, Just got home from another exciting day at C J Willis Medical Center. Jenn looked pretty good today. She was able to eat a hearty breakfast of juice and broth and lunch was yummy, pudding, tomatosoup and more juice. She finally got some coffee and cream today and “Ahhhh…”, it was good. This afternoon her nurse came in and said, “time to get up”. We walked to the bathroom and she washed, got her hair combed and pulled back and really perked up. Then back and in to a big comfy chair. She was there at least three hours. She was awake, talking and actually interesting company…

AFTER A VERY LONG DAY
Good morning Kast Family, I just got off the phone with Jenn after calling to see how she is this morning. She still sounds pretty groggy, but says she doing ok. We talked for a short while and reviewed what the doctor told her yesterday and what he told us. We didn’t post last night because we felt that Jenn should know everything first and wasn’t sure if she would remember. She is on a pain pump and she sure is cute when she is drunk. The surgery went well. Not sure exactly how long, but about 3 hours. The doctor removed a tumor on her ovary that was about…

A SHORT NOTE
Hello Kast Family Just wanted to let you know that all is well here this evening. Jenn has been packing her overnite bag and getting her things together for tomorrow. She has been on clear liquids today, but hasn’t complained much as she hasn’t had much of an appetite. Good thing she likes jello. Surgery is scheduled for 2:30 pm tomorrow, we will be leaving about 11:30 to get there as she has to report at 12:30. Her dad and Joyce are flying in tonight and hopefully will be able to join us here in the morning before we leave. Then we can convoy to the hospital and get her…
