Good news from the Doctor

Well, today was the follow up visit with the gyno-oncologist and we were given very good news. All biopsies show negative and it appears the cancer was contained within the tumor and had not spread. This is excellent news! Although the biopsies show there are no more cancer cells, I will still have to undergo chemo treatments.. but I think I can handle that.   Today’s good news can’t be overshadowed by some silly little thing like chemotherapy.

I was a little dismayed to find out I had only lost one pound since the surgery. I mean really.. you take something out of me that you tell me is the size of a cantelope? I think that’s worth more than a pound!!!!  Of course, I am sure this has nothing to do with the ice cream, chocolate or cheese cake I have been eating since the surgery 🙂

Tomorrow I have my front tooth extracted. Leave it to me to have an infection that has to be taken care of before chemo can begin.. and leave it to me to have it be the darn FRONT tooth.. so, after 11:00am, tomorrow I will have no front tooth.. in about three weeks I will have no hair.. just put me in a pair of overalls, stick a straw hat on my head, give me a corn-cob pipe… and drive me to the other side of Richmond. I’ll fit right in with the mountain folk of “Virginny”  🙂

Chemo starts next week. Not sure what day. For now it is set for Tuesday, but trying to reschedule due to another conflict. Hoping for Thursday. Once chemo starts my restrictions will be slightly similar to what Kerrie had.. while I can be around fresh flowers, plants and fruits I can’t touch them and it’s better if I am not near them all that much, so I am going to ask that people not send flowers any longer. Thank you SO MUCH for all the flowers and plants I have received so far. Fuat says our house looks like a beautiful garden, but I will have to ask that the garden go away for a little while.. for those wondering, Fuat did ask the doctor about my cat ( The magnificient Cutie ) and the doctor said being with my cat would not be a problem. Sorry honey…. She stays :):):)  ( and you love her as much as I do.. just admit it).

Not sure when I will return to work. Today I wanted to ask if I could go back to work starting tomorrow.. but then an hour goes by and I get exhausted. Energy spurts come and go… but they dont last long. I think I will try to rest a little more before I am asking about going back to work.

Mom will be here a few more days… she flies home Friday night. We are really sorry to see her go.. and Fuat is going to have to cook or put up with me making Hot Pockets for dinner 🙂 Good thing he likes Hot Pockets :):)

Don’t worry about Fuat.. mom has made up enough meals ahead of time, that it should be at least a week before I would have to resort to Hot Pockets and, by then, I should have enough energy back to do some actual cooking.

The next few days will be busy with dental appointments, and getting ready for my first chemo session, so not sure when I will be back on… pretty tired most days and don’t always have the energy to get to the computer, but we’ll try to update everyone again as soon as I know what day I will actually be starting chemo.

Love you all

Jenn

How great that someone is finally getting GOOD news. So happy for you. By the way, you are welcome to hang out in my hometown once you get your tooth out. Just be sure you also remove the muffler from your car on the way in to town. HAPPY HAPPY FOR YOUR WONDERFUL NEWS.

You lost weight since the surgery? I am impressed. I put on weight. But then, I always do. Walk 60 miles in the AVON walk…put ON weight, pneumonia? Put on weight. I think it’s God’s little way of saying…”I gave you fat cells. Deal with it!”

Very happy for you and Fuat regarding the news. What a relief. As silly as it sounds, it’s true: What’s a little chemo now? LOL! Easy for me to say.

Love you! Keep the good news coming! I’d take Aunt Michelle up on her offer, BTW. She is great at pampering! You both deserve it!

    Love,

    Aunt Mary Jo

Linda and I worked with your mother over the past years at NOMC. You are in our prayers as is your mother and family. Your news is great news!!!!!!! My sister had ovarian cancer in 2001 and is doing well even today at 59 years old. So take care of yourself and eat and rest well. Again, good luck and take care. Cheryl & Linda
