BIG DAY TOMORROW

Hello Kast Family,

Well, tomorrow is a big day for Jenn. The first Chemo session. I know she is uptight about it. I know because I talked to her a little while ago and she is a bit testy. As usual, she didn’t listen to her Mom and she did too much today and is really tired. Then she read her instructions and realized she has to stay up to midnite to take her medications and then up again at 6 am to take another dose. In addition, she is trying to get things done tonight before she goes, just is case she is down and out for a couple of days. Told her to go lay down and try to relax. Easy for me to say. Oh boy……………

She has had an up and down week……..feels good one day and does a lot, then crashes the next. Gee, Jenn, you just had major surgery and aren’t really yourself………..and, yup, you tire easily and think you can do more than you can………and you lose energy quick and wonder why you aren’t your old self. Well, give it time, you will be soon. Then you’ll wish you had rested more on your good days……..Listen up now, Mom knows best…. 🙂

The procedure for the port implant that she was supposed to have tomorrow morning has been put off until the next session. Actually think that is better. She can get thru this first chemo without another procedure to worry about……and deal with it the next time. The port is a little access device that is placed under the skin on the upper chest. The chemo will be given thru that, also can usually draw blood specimens from that. Will save her lots of pokes in the long run.

Not a lot more to tell right now. She is really doing better, although she doesn’t always think so…. hopefully the next post will be a little more upbeat, she’ll be thru this first round and know what to expect.

Take care all………

will post again soon.

Love ya

Joan

Listen to your Mom, Jenn. I can tell you from recent personal experience that she is absolutely right. My biggest regrets about my recuperation are that 1) I didn’t take advantage of the time off to rest (didn’t spend one afternoon on the couch reading a novel) and 2) I didn’t take enough time off. Rick tried to tell me that it was okay, I could take some time off and the world would still be spinning on its axis when I got back…

Will be thinking about you tomorrow and sending you Love & Light.
    Love you!
