Just to wish her “Happy Birthday”

26 hours without sleep, 22 hours traveling and one lost suitcase.. all just to wish Kerrie “Happy Birthday.” I got out of bed at 11:00pm Monday night ( Detroit Time.. it was 6:00am in Bulgaria), packed and headed to the airport. The other people I was traveling with had flights from the other terminal, but I didn’t mind hanging out in the airport alone.. even if few people spoke English, and I can’t read the Cyrillic Alphabet, the airport is small.. a few stores and a coffee shop. We got to the airport 2 hours before my flight, so I ordered an espresso and got ready to enjoy a cigarette……

Hi Everyone, Well, I thought I was done with these posts and Jenn was back on line, but wouldn’t you know it, she flaked out on me. Just because her plane(s) were late and she didn’t get in until 2 am and her luggage is still flying around Europe somewhere and Kerrie woke her up every hour on the hour after she finally got to bed, she didn’t make it to the site to post. Something tells me she is sound a sleep at good ole HFH and Kerrie is probably saying “Jenn, Jenn, I hate to tell you this but I need……” and Jenn is snoring. But, thanks to…

Hi Everyone, Well, another day done at good ole HFH.  Our day started at 2:00 am in the ultrasound room in ER. Ker had to have another one so the doctor who was planning to do her procedure today could check everything out. Hopefully Kerrie doesn’t remember much of it cause it wasn’t too good for her. Lots of pain in her side and that’s where the tech had to keep pressing the probe. The am started out quiet, although Ker didn’t feel well, and had been getting more yukky as the weekend went on. At 10 am the nurse came in and said “they’re here for you” and off…

Hello from Henry Ford Hospital!!!! Once again I am sitting here is Ker’s room watching her snooze. She just had some RX and is enjoying the chemical relaxation for a bit. Got here just in time to meet with several physicians. It’s been decided that even tho Kerrie’s enzyme and bilirubin levels are going down, that she needs to have a tube put in the gall bladder to drain out the fluid that the doctors think is infected and causing a lot of her problems. So, tonight she gets another Ultrasound to check things out one more time, and then …platelets…. platelets….. platelets…… because her count isn’t high enough to…

    Hello From Bulgaria

A big “hello” from Sofia, Bulgaria.. It’s time for me to check in on my sister and read all the latest information about her, but wanted to leave a quick post on the web page to surprise her. This is the first access I have had, to the internet, since my arrival.. so I guess I have a lot of catching up to do. Ker- Bear.. Love you, Miss you, will see you soon.. and maybe bring you a Hottie Bulgarian ( or the Norwegian I met last night 🙂 ) You know I was always a little partial to Norway. I see Mom has done a good job of…

Hello Everyone, While Jenn is away I will do my best to keep you updated…….. By the way, I have heard from her, she is in Bulgaria and doing well. She is keeping in touch daily with a phone call. She and her friends are planning a trip to Greece on Monday. Mentioned that she might want to give that a second thought given the incident in Athens… they had not heard about it so are going to check it out.    Kerrie is doing ok today. Still some question about her gall bladder problem. The surgeons say she still needs the drain put in…. the bone marrow people don’t…

It’s almost time for me to leave. I’ll have to walk out the door, in about 5 minutes, and head to the airport. Kerrie’s very unhappy about this..and I’m not exactly thrilled with it either, but I am sure Mom and the nurses can take good care of her while I’m gone. I’ve left Mom with instructions on now to post in the blog, but keep an eye out.. in the gallery.. in case she has problems and ends up putting posts there. I love you Kerrie. I love you and I will miss you.. but I willl see you soon. Jenn

My sister is stoned. Not just a little buzzed. We’re talking S-T-O-N-E-D! I arrived around 9:45pm, walked in, took one look at her, looked at Ron and he said “they just gave her some stuff”. “Hmmm.. Kerrie? Are you enjoying your dilauded?” “Yeah… Uh – huh” ( slurred speech) “Kerrie are you buzzed?” “Yup” “O.K. our little stoned sister… enjoy your buzz. Ron’s going home and I will see you when you wake up in the morning.” “Hee heee.. o.k. I’ll be gone, but then I’ll be back soon.” “O.K. Kerrie. I’ll see you when you get back… have a nice buzz.” “O.K… zzzzzzzzzzzz” I’m so glad I busted my…

    Tuesday, January 9th

Packed, ready to go and now all I have to do is try to finish 3 days worth of work in the 8 hours I will have in my office tomorrow. Then it’s time to go spend the night with Kerrie and make myself get on that plane on Thursday. Kerrie had her liver biopsy this morning, as well as an ultrasound of her gall bladder and x-rays of her stomache. Mom thinks it will be a few days before we have any results of the biopsy, but hoping we’ll hear something about the x-rays tomorrow. The ultrasound showed an inflamation of the gall bladder, but this is something that…

    Monday, January 8th

Mom spent the entire day with Kerrie today. Not a good day for her. She’s been suffering from a lot of nausea lately and the are trying to figure out just what is causing it. It seems to happen a lot when they are giving her meds, etc. through her feeding tube… but this doesn’t make a lot of sense. Without giving a complete lesson in the anatomy of a bariatric patient… Kerrie basically has two parts to her stomache.. the part she actually uses when she eats ( and is connected to her asophogus) and the part that has been sectioned off by her surgery ( but still connected…
