Just got to Mom’s… The bed’s in the living room, all made up, and the little night stand next to it.. meds, etc. in the bathroom, new sheets & pillows, new towels, etc… and everythings ready to go. Well, everything except the fridge… no food in it :) We’ll have to do some shopping. Simple things like shopping are going to take on a whole new meaning once Kerrie’s home. If I’m not home, Mom won’t be able to just head out to the store. Little things everyone takes for granted will have to be planned carefully and will only be able to be done when others can help. But, I…

No update on Kerrie today… Mom’s working tonight, so I’m not able to call her to get any info. I guess we can assume that if she didn’t call then there’s nothing to worry about and everything is on track for Friday. For those of you in the Northeast Ohio area… I hope you are surviving these great thunderstorms. It looks like it could ge a rough night.

Tuesday, March 13
Kerrie went outside today! First time since the beginning of October. I freaked out, of course, wondering about the trees.. flowers.. grass… But Mom had already talked to the BMT Team, at Henry Ford, and they approved her to go outside. So, she put on her mask.. and out they went. Just a short walk around the hospital, but I bet it was nice for her to be on the other side of that window for once! Official word on Kerrie coming home is Friday. As always, be prepared for changes, but it doesn’t look like there will be any this time. If there are, it’s because of some health…

Monday, March 12
OK.. hands are shaking a little.. Sat down to put this post on and the house started shaking. It was like a low rumbling and I could feel the shaking getting stronger.. and then there was a huge THUD. My cat ran to the back of the house, I jumped up ( saying a few words I won’t repeat so that my Grandmother still thinks I’m a sweet angel 🙂 ).. and then I ran to the front of the house fully expecting to find a car had driven into my living room. Nothing wrong with the house.. walked the outside of the house and couldn’t find anything. Checked the…

Sunday, March 11 ( Evening)
Kerrie suffered through Mom & I getting her dressed, getting her out of bed.. and arguing about the right way to do it. Then Kerrie and I took a stroll to the 3rd floor, went to her secret spot to get on the computer and check out her web page and then went to the 7th floor waiting room to look out the window. Someone on the third floor asked her when she would be going home and she said, “Well. We will talk about it tomorrow.. but I want more.” Meaning she wants for PT and doesn’t want to go home yet. We agree! Sitting in the waiting room,…

Sunday, March 11
Wasn’t able to get Kerrie out of bed when I returned to the hospital last night.. She was supposed to take a nap while I was gone, but hadn’t slept at all. So… I told her to take a nap and we would get up later. She fell asleep at 4:30pm and didn’t wake up until 6:00am this morning. Diane, her nurse, even gave her meds.. changed her bed, gave her a bath and changed her gown and the girl never even woke up. We must have really worn her out with trying to teach me how to get her up. Geez… I wasn’t tired. Don’t know what her problem…

Saturday, March 10
OK.. so I need a lot of practice with getting Kerrie in and out of bed. My ” Training” started today.. poor girl. I hate to have to put her through all this. The PT & OT staff came in this morning, showed me how to help her roll over and sit up..she was getting frustrated with me, and kept giving me dirty looks, because I was doing it wrong, but I finally managed to get her up. Then.. was supposed to help her move to the edge of the bed, so she could get her feet on the floor. Yeah.. I need to work on my upper arm strength.…

Friday, March 9 # 3 ( 10:30pm)
What a long drive.. seemed longer than usual this time. Walk in the door of Kerrie’s room and she looks at me, smiles and says”Hi. How are you?” “I’m fine Kerrie. I missed you… did you miss me?” “I hope I did!” “You hope you did? You don’t know if you missed me? I know I missed you.. you hope you did?” “Yeah.. I hope I did. ” “I missed you Jenny.” “Good.. because I sure as hell missed you.” She was wide awake, so I was actually able to get her talking about her day and her trip to the Third Floor. She said it was a nice surprise and that…

Friday, March 9 # 2
Hello Everyone, Finally found again out how to put a post on the Blog………..and I am so happy to put this one on.  Kerrie and I had quite an evening……thought about staying home and doing some more work around the house, but decided that I needed to go in to see Ker and get her up again….we are working on endurance and spending more time out of bed. Also working on my ability to get her up and put her back to bed. Not as easy as it sounds, but I am doing better and Kerrie is gaining more confidence in my ability to do it.  So, I…
