Wasn’t able to get Kerrie out of bed when I returned to the hospital last night..

She was supposed to take a nap while I was gone, but hadn’t slept at all. So… I told her to take a nap and we would get up later. She fell asleep at 4:30pm and didn’t wake up until 6:00am this morning. Diane, her nurse, even gave her meds.. changed her bed, gave her a bath and changed her gown and the girl never even woke up.

We must have really worn her out with trying to teach me how to get her up. Geez… I wasn’t tired. Don’t know what her problem is 🙂

I left the hospital, this morning, before her PT and told her she’d better rest up. We are definately getting her up as soon as I get back.

I’ve posted a lot of new pictures in the gallery.. they’re a long time coming, but it’s been difficult for Mom to find the time to get them off her camera. She was wonderful enough to take a few minutes to do this last night, before passing out and having to come back to work at 5:00am this morning. I’m sure this was even more difficult for her today, as she lost an hour’s sleep with the time change.

Kerrie and I are working on a new project and I will hopefully be able to have James put it on here soon. I left my camera cable at the hospital, so it’s going to be a little delayed.

The other day, I mentioned that I had found out about another young woman going through something similar to Kerrie. Her name is Kristy and she also underwent a bone marrow transplant. Due to a lot of problems with GVHD, she spent two years in the U of M hospital’s Luekemia ward… she’s just recently come home. Like Kerrie, she suffered paralysis, and has been fortunate enough to gain back her ability to walk, etc. Her condition is a little different than Kerrie’s and, although  some of Kerrie’s paralysis is most likely permanent, Kristy gives us all hope that Kerrie has a future ahead of her. Please take a minute to check out Kristy’s web page, and hear her story, at www.kristyrecovers.com   Like us, Kristy and her family are dealing with this struggle on a daily basis. Please add them to your prayers.

I’m finding more and more people who are going through situations like ours and will be adding links to their web pages. Please be sure to check the “Links” section often. You cannot imagine how your support of Kerrie has helped her to keep fighting. and we all know that Kerrie has always worried more about others than herself. If she could, she would do whatever she could to let these other families know they are in her thoughts. We should try to do that same.

Tomorrow will be a big day for both of us, as we will be spending a lot of time with the PT & OT staff getting more training.. and making preparations for Kerrie to come home. We can hope that she will be allowed more time, maybe even another week, but we’re getting ready to bring her home….just incase she’s not approved to stay.
