    Tuesday, June 19th 7:00pm

They finally did the colonoscopy sometime around 3:00pm. It took a lot longer than normal, and Mom was getting worried, but it turns out they didn’t see anything that would be causing her to bleed. There was some fresh blood, but they could not locate where it may have been coming from. Now they plan to do another “scopy” of some kind tomorrow. This is like the colonoscopy, but they go down into her throat and stomache. If she continues to remain stable, and they don’t find anything tomorrow, she will probably be moved back to P2. I don’t like not having answers… but she has been the challenge to…

Just a quick update.. nothings been done yet. Still waiting for the colonoscopy.. and waiting to see if they will do the other radio-active dye x-ray.  The doctor lets us know that Kerrie had lost 1 3/4 liters of blood, and she received 4 units throughout the night and platellets.. but they do not think she is actively bleeding now.  Hope they are right. I’ll update again as soon as we have some info. Jenn

    Monday, June 18th

Well, it’s really Tuesday, June 19th but whose paying attention… we’re back to being in ICU, staying in the Henry Ford Apartments and being totally lost when it comes to date, time, etc. If you haven’t seen the posts, from our aunts, in the gallery.. here’s a quick update. Kerrie is back in ICU with possible internal bleeding. She scared the heck out of Mom when her blood pressure dropped, heart rate went up, hemoglobin went from 9 (?? I think) to 2… and all this was shortly after we were given good news that the Billy Rubin had dropped from 10 or 11 to 6. The Billy Rubin news…

    Saturday, June 16th

Kerrie and I were dreaming of chocolate milkshakes and singing a little song… “Oh chocolate milkshakes are so yummy.. and they feel good in my tummy….” and I’m humming this little song, as I walk down the hall to the freezer, when I open the freezer door and. OH NO! There’s no more ice cream in the freezer. Kerrie was very distressed my this, but had a huge smile on her face when I wiped out a couple of orange popsicles.. so now here we are, watching Saturday Night Live and getting sticky, orange popsicle stuff all over our faces. The day didn’t start out too great. Kerrie wasn’t feeling…

    Friday, June 15th

Long day… Not really a bad day, just long. Kerrie had coffee waiting for me when I woke up, plus breakfast. I suppose she was trying to make up for making me walk down the hall yesterday 🙂 She hasn’t felt great today.. even turned down a visit with her friend Donna. Hey Donna, I think Kerrie’s regretting telling you that she wasn’t up to visitors when you called. I know she really wants to see you, but was feeling really cruddy today. No fever, but “feeling like crap” as she put it to the doctor. Dr. Jana has cut back her dilauded to every four hours.. this has Kerrie…

    Thursday, June 14th

Kerrie’s had a decent day today.. with some ups and downs. I woke up this morning and she’d already eaten breakfast.. didn’t even save me any of her coffee. Hmm.. Nice sister. So, I got up.. got dressed and walked all they way down the hall to the coffee machine. She had the coffee sitting right on her tray. She didn’t drink it. It was there.. waiting for me.. but she sent it away with the rest of her tray. What was she thinking?? Making me walk all the way down the hall for coffee. Just for that.. maybe I’ll only make her one chocolate milkshake today. Well, since she…

    Wednesday,June 13th 9:30pm

Kerrie handled the third dose without any problems. Slept through the whole thing.. She woke up and was surprised to see me sitting next to her. Happy I could surprise her. Mom had called, earlier in the day, because Kerrie wanted to know “when is she getting on the bus?” Well, I didn’t get on the bus as early as I wanted to, because people kept coming in my office and interrupting the bus driver, so it was hard for me to get the bus started on time. Finally got in a little after 4:00pm and then Mom was able to head off to work. Kerrie’s sleeping again.. they’ve just…

    Wednesday 13 @ 1:30 pm

Hi Everyone, Kind of a busy morning with breakfast, bath, up in chair, walk in hall, dr. visits, lunch, etc. Premeds started about 12:30. Ker fell asleep with her toothbrush in her mouth. Finally got. that job done, positoned, padded, tucked and here came Benadryl. Good night Kerrie, see you tomorrow because you won’t wake up before I leave. This is the last dose of Atgam. Don’t have any labs today on her liver enzymes. Those will be taken tomorrow. But, Dr. Jana thinks by her color (pale yellow) that they are down even more. YEAH!!!!!!!!! She got another dose of Simulect (not the baby food Simulac) last night. That…

    Tuesday

Hi am home getting cleaned up…..about time. Ker was resting when I left. Had been up, ate breakfast and was back to bed watching TV. Ms. Jackson was coming in to give her a bath and she’ll have lunch before I get back. Dr. Jana was in and we heard that the bilirubin is down a smidgen. Not a lot but the fact that it is down, not up is encouraging. Tomorrow she gets her last dose of Atgam and then the wait begins. The next two weeks are critical both for recovery and the presence of infection.  We will keep you posted on what is going on. Will try…
