    Friday, October 6th

Today was a decent day for Kerrie. She didn’t have to make any trips to the hospital and we got to spend the day relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Kerrie’s a big Nascar fan and we had planned to go see Talladaga Nights right before she was admitted into the hospital, in August, but they ended up admitting her 3 days before it came out in theaters.. so we never got to go.  After the Home Health Care Nurse came by, to make sure we knew what we were doing with changing Kerrie’s dressing, we piled in the car and went to the movies.  Mom and I aren’t Nascar fans, but we still found it…

Thursday, October 5th – Some good news

You know you’ve spent a little too much time in a hospital when you can sit in the lobby and recognize a lot of the staff when they walk by. As a family member of a patient, you know you’ve spent WAY too much time in a hospital when you can sit in the lobby and not only recognize a lot of the staff, but know many of the doctors, nurses, dieticians, interns and housekeeping staff by name. Today was a little better than yesterday, but Kerrie’s anxiety level was still high because of the Spinal Tap looming at the end of the day. During her MUGGA Scan, I played…

    Wendesday, October 4th

A long drive, a lot of pain and a rescheduling of the transplant. That pretty much sums up today. A better way to describe today would be to say “Today sucked!” For Kerrie and Mom, today started with waking up and making a drive to Henry Ford Hospital for her catheter placement. For me, today started with waking up and driving to Michigan…. and trying to do it in time to meet Kerrie and Mom at the hospital. Anyone who knows me KNOWS I am NOT a morning person, so having to be on the road by 7:30am ranks right up there with fingernails on a chalkboard. This may sound…

    Tuesday, October 3rd

Well, it sounds like Kerrie may have had a good day without any trips to the hospital :) … at least not to Henry Ford. She was at NOMC today, doing some paperwork in HR, but the power went out while she was there.. so she wasn’t able to make it to any other floors. Pesky elevators were out and it would have been a little difficult for her to walk the stairs.  I questioned whether she should have gone to the floors anyway but, knowing her, she would have put on a space suit if it meant she could go and surprise her friends. Today and Friday seem to be…

    Sunday, October 1

Hi Everyone!!! If you’ve been keeping up with the web page, then you know Kerrie came home Thursday night………we knew it was coming but I thought it would be Friday or Saturday so when I called after work, and she said they were writing her scripts, etc., I flew home to clean my car and headed for the hospital.. Allied Van Lines wasn’t available so I had to pack and load her stuff in to my car myself……….. .Riddle: how much can one women accumulate in a hospital room in two months? Answer: a hell of a lot! After several trips to the car I looked up at her window…

    Saturday, September 30th

The Good.. the Bad.. and the Ugly. We’ve had it all in the past 10 days! Every time I’ve tried to find the time to write an update something else has happened, but I have finally find the time and a quiet moment. Let’s hope it stays that way. Kerrie’s had a lot happen in the last two weeks… A possible trip to the ICU (which she narrowly escaped… not sure how she was able to convince them that she wasn’t that sick)..chest x-rays, lot’s of pain in the appendix and kidneys ( all tests indicated there was nothing wrong), the threat of possible MRI’s and more pain meds than…

    Wednesday, September 20th

Hi everyone, I apologize for the delay in putting on updates. It’s been a rough week for Kerrie and there has been a lot happening. For the past several days Kerrie has had it pretty rough. Pretty much everything they warned us would happen has been happening. High fevers, not feeling well, being in a lot of pain, etc.  She’s feeling pretty “down in the dumps”, but we are doing what we can to keep her spirits up. Right now there isn’t much else to tell. The doctors are doing all kinds of testing, trying to ease her pain and generally giving her every type of medication they can possibly hook up…

    Saturday, September 16th

Hi everyone, Has been awhile since i have written, actually not much to report. Kerrie is still very uncomfortable, skin, GI tract, nausea, etc. etc. She is getting multiple meds for everything under the sun…….and her blood counts are still very low. This is expected, and hopefully they will start to rise in the next few days. In the meantime lots of blood and platelet tranfusions. She works hard at keeping her spirits up, but it is getting more difficult as time goes by and she doesn’t feel better. She tires very fast, so if you call or visit please understand if she pauses to rest or dozes off for…
