Saturday, December 30th
We never made it to the point of watching movies last night. Kerrie had one heck of a day, in PT, and was wiped out by 6:30pm. She was in deep sleep by 7:00pm and didn’t wake up again until 1:00am. Good for her.. she needs the sleep. Her PT Team gave us some good news… not only did Kerrie NOT complain, whine or say “I can’t” during her PT.. when they were done, and they told her they were done, she said, “No. One more!” That’s a pretty good breakthrough. Today should be a semi-quiet day for her. Mom’s on call, and working on a couple of cases this…

Friday, December 29th
It’s only 11:30 and Kerrie has already had a pretty busy day. Lots of doctors in to see her.. Respitory, Nuerology, etc. The Nuerologist came to meet with her briefly, at the request of another doctor, and told Kerrie he thought she had already been “Through the Mill” and he hoped she wouldn’t need to see him at all. I laughed, and told him.. “No offense, but we really hope she doesn’t ever need to see you either!” We spent part of the morning reading more of the cards and letters that had come in Uncle Dave’s present on Christmas morning and plan to try to get through the rest…

Thursday, December 28th
Nice… I walk up to the door of Kerrie’s room and the whole door has been decorated with a sign that say’s, “Lordy, Lordy, poor Jenny is 40″…. made me laugh, but I thought ” does she have to post my age for the whole fricking hospital to see?”. Then I walked in the room and there were balloons and black crepe paper everywhere. I guess Mom and Kerrie had a good time decorating the room 🙂 Kerrie was in the middle of PT, but as soon as she was done she looked at me and said,”oh, I have to put this on” and stuck two big, red bows on her…

Wednesday, December 27th
Kerrie gave Mom a scare this morning… woke up with a high fever, sweating, etc. Mom had the nurse call the doctors at 6:30am, as these are signs of Graft vs. Host, and can’t be played around with. They’ve also discovered that Kerrie has a bladder infection, so are treating her for that as well. Fevers, infections, etc. would be considered small problems in most people, but for Kerrie they could be fatal. I’m glad Mom was there to make sure the doctors were called right away. I’m not saying the nursing staff at NOMC wouldn’t have called them anyway, they just might not know how serious it is with…

Tuesday, December 26th
another busy day for Kerrie… they worked her extra hard, in PT, today and she was worn out.. I went back to Mom’s, during her PT, but Mom said she was less than pleased with having to be up and out of bed for so many hours.. but she knows it’s the only way to get better and get home. Some of her tests came back, showing her Liver Enzymes were up again, so Dr. Jana and the Team at NOMC have changed some of her meds around. I’m hoping this will take care of the problem.. though one of the doctors brought up the dreaded Liver Biopsy again. Every…

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day…
Kerrie had a pretty active day with lots of visitors.. and I even got a present from some of the staff. They were able to replace my recliner ( That wouldn’t stay reclined) with a chair/bed. This one is very similar to the one at Henry Ford, but it has a REAL mattress. Santa Claus came early for me… and I was truly grateful to them! After a busy day of visitors Mom, Kerrie and I settled in to watch a movie and relax. Kerrie knew exactly what she wanted to watch and searched through the TV Guide until she could find it. Wasn’t hard… it was on 3 different…

Sunday, December 24th
Finally finished the Christmas Shopping just in time for Dad, Joyce and Ron to get to Kerrie’s room last night!. Kerrie was so sleepy, but kept fighting sleep, because she wanted to see Dad. Ron and I told her to take a little nap, but she insisted.. “OK.. but only until Dad gets here!” Once he came in she was wide awake and ready for visitors.. and she had lots of them! I think the best part of the night was when several people from Labor and Delivery ( The floor where Kerrie worked) walked through the door and started to sing Christmas Carols. Kerrie just loved it and sang…

Saturday, December 23rd
Yesterday was a busy, busy day for both of us… Kerrie spent a lot of her day in Therapy and we had some good news! She was able to stand, using the PT equipment, for a full five minutes and when the Doctor asked her to shrug her shoulders she shrugged BOTH of them. She has shown little/no mobility in the right shoulder, so this was a pretty big step. Mom said it was the best Christmas present she could have asked for and it’s all she needs ( I guess that means I can take her gifts back to the store 🙂 ) Speech Therapy did another swallow study…

Friday, December 22nd
Kerrie has successfully made her move to North Oakland Medical Center!! The Staff of P2 gave her a great goodbye and gave her an honorary nursing certificate before she left!!!!!! They better watch out… as soon as she’s better, she’s going to be taking that certificate and demading a job on P2. After her ambulance ride to NOMC, and getting checked in to her room, the rehabilitation team got right to work.. getting her up and out of bed, into a wheel chair, evaluating her speech and physical capabilities… they gave her no time to rest. I got to the hospital, around 7:00pm, and the minute I walked in the…

Wednesday, December20th
Kerrie’s getting an early Christmas present!! By Noon, tomorrow, she will have a new address… 7th floor rehab center at North Oakland Medical Center. I had been given strict orders not to post this on the website until it was official.. Mom and I are both a little paranoid about jinxing anything (and I suppose a stop could still be put to it..) but her fabulous limousine ( ambulance) is expected to pick her up sometime after 10:00am tommorrow. I’m surprised this hasn’t already hit the gallery.. as several people at NOMC were told about this today.. but I guess I get to be the first to give the news.…
