Tuesday, December 26th

another busy day for Kerrie… they worked her extra hard, in PT, today and she was worn out.. I went back to Mom’s, during her PT, but Mom said she was less than pleased with having to be up and out of bed for so many hours.. but she knows it’s the only way to get better and get home.

Some of her tests came back, showing her Liver Enzymes were up again, so Dr. Jana and the Team at NOMC have changed some of her meds around. I’m hoping this will take care of the problem.. though one of the doctors brought up the dreaded Liver Biopsy again.

Every Tuesday, the NOMC Team meets with the patients to go over where they are in their rehab and what their thoughts are on progression. We had our first meeting today and they said they were pleased with how Kerrie is going so far. She’s at about 50% for being able to do some of the Occupational Therapy things on her own.. such as washing her face, brushing her teeth, etc. Much less in the other areas, but this will improve. She still rates very low for being able to sit up and get out of bed, but I’ve noticed she’s even getting stronger at helping with this. Getting into bed is a little more difficult. No matter what she does, she still needs extreme help.. but it’s nice to be able to see her do some things on her own. I don’t have to help her brush her teeth anymore, just hold the spit tray, and she’s getting pretty good at positioning her pillows and blankets the way she wants them.. she even opened her Christmas presents will only a little assistance. As I was giving her Nasal Spray, I stood there and said “What am I doing this for… do it yourself. Here’s the bottle.” After she poked herself in the face a few times I did help her with her direction, but she was able to do it on her own 🙂

They are designing a special wheelchair for her and will start working with her on this once she has it.

All in all, it was a good report and I will be anxious to hear what they have to say next week.

I’ve come back to Ohio for a day and will go back tomorrow night ( so not even a full day home.. but oh well). I have a few things to do, before Thursday.. so thought I would run home and do them. Not that I’m counting, but I figured out I am 39 years, 363 days old…. not sure how to hold off the next two days, so won’t even try.

Kerrie better have that big, red bow on her head when I see her Thursday!
