Sunday, December 24th

Finally finished the Christmas Shopping just in time for Dad, Joyce and Ron to get to Kerrie’s room last night!. Kerrie was so sleepy, but kept fighting sleep, because she wanted to see Dad. Ron and I told her to take a little nap, but she insisted.. “OK.. but only until Dad gets here!”

Once he came in she was wide awake and ready for visitors.. and she had lots of them!  I think the best part of the night was when several people from Labor and Delivery ( The floor where Kerrie worked) walked through the door and started to sing Christmas Carols.  Kerrie just loved it  and sang along with them with a huge smile on her face. Ladies, that was one of the best gifts you could have given to her.. and we loved it too!

After everyone left, Kerrie and I layed around eating chips and pudding.. and watching The Sound of Music ( I ate the chips.. she ate the pudding.. well most of it ended up on her face, but she had such a cute, chocolate mustache 🙂 )  I think I was driving her crazy, because every time some place came on that I had been to, on my trip through Salzburg, I would say “I’ve been there” or “I’ve seen that”… she finally just rolled her eyes and said “Stop it” ( She was even a little irratated when I pulled out my laptop and started showing her pictures of me in front of the castle they used for the Von Traps house in the movie.. I can’t imagine why 🙂 )

After the movie she fell asleep, and I mean really fell asleep… they did a finger prick to check her blood suger.. she didn’t budge.. they did all kinds of stuff with her feeding tube.. she didn’t budge.. they were rearranging all her bedding and blankets.. she didn’t budge.  I leaned over and turned off the TV… She woke right up, looked at me like I had committed a horrible sin and she said “NO! Turn it on!” So, I turned it back on and she went right back to sleep.. slept for almost 7 hours.  She even let me sleep.. so it was a good night for both of us.

Physical Therapy started early this morning and they had her up and standing again. Then they did work with her on her arms and legs. She’s doing a decent job of moving her right shoulder, but if she gets tired she tries to fake it when I ask her to move her shoulder… then she rocks her body back and forth to make it look like her shoulder is moving. I told her she wasn’t fooling anybody and she just laughed and said “Oh well…”

Dad, Joyce, Kerrie and I celebrated Christmas this morning, after Kerrie’s PT, and then she was out like a light again. I guess all the lack of sleep is catching up on her.

I’ve come back to Mom’s, to shower and get some stuff for tomorrow, and then I’m on my way back to the hospital. We have a very important afternoon planned.. were going to watch all the Christmas shows.. Rudolph, Frosty.. one of the TV stations is doing a Christmas Marathon of all the shows.. about 8 hours of them. I’d better hurry.. I don’t want to miss Rudolph and we have to make sure we have eaten dinner and are ready when the 24 hour Maraton of A Christmas Story starts 🙂

She’s had so much sleep that she will probably be up watching it all night, which means I probably will be too.

I hope Santa can find her new hospital room. I checked, but couldn’t find a chimney anywhere. I may need to leave a big sign on the roof of the hospital, so he can find us 🙂
