Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!… this year it has taken on a whole new meaning to our family!

My mother will be walking through front door, any minute now, and will start acting “momish” about the fact that I am sitting on the computer instead of drying my hair, so I will try to update you quickly ( and before I get caught 🙂 )  As soon as she walks in she’s going to ask if I am going to get ready and tell me we need to get going…  Dad is spending today with Kerrie and we are going to Ron’s for the afternoon.. as usual, I am running about an hour behind ( Which will have Mom standing at the bottom of her stairs calling my name in the “Mom” voice.. and telling me we need to get going as she taps on her watch.  I guess it doesn’t matter how old you are, Moms will be moms)

Kerrie had a pretty busy day yesterday and when I walked in the room she said “Hi. I think I need a little catnap” and she went directly to sleep. So much for entertaining me for the evening.

She looks good, especially now that she is not wearing the oxygen mask. I guess Mom woke up at 5:00am, yesterday, and Kerrie had taken off the mask.. and then told Mom “I dont want to wear this anymore”. She needs it for the humidity in her nasal passages, and not for the oxygen, so the staff made a deal with her that she needs to keep it laying on her chest, near her face, and put it up to her face every once in a while. This worked for her and she doesn’t have to have cotton stuck all over her head to keep the mask from leavng marks all over her face and head.

She’s having a lot of pain in the right arm and leg and, while we don’t want her to be in pain, this is a good thing since it means she is getting a lot of sensation back. She’s off the pain pump, but can have meds when she wants them, so she was asking for them alot last night. It was really cute at one point… she looked at me and said “Can I please purchase more of that stuff?” When I figured out she wanted her pain meds I told her we had a special deal for the day and she could have it for free. She thought this was a pretty good idea and I thought it was funny she wanted to “purchase it.”

I just heard Mom’s car pull in the garage, so I’ll be in trouble in a minute. REALLY need to dry my hair 🙂

She doesn’t always remember the words she wants to use and sometimes uses the wrong ones. This is probably why she asked to purchase it. When I asked her if she knew what today was she said “July”… but she knew it was Thanksgiving and we made sure to watch the parade like we do every year.

Her nurse was doing her assesment this morning and had Kerrie partially uncovered when the BMT team walked in… as soon as they left she told the nurse “I don’t like to be uncovered. Please don’t do that.”  You go Kerrie… get fiesty. It means you’re feeling better.

Well, Mom just came up the stairs and asked if I was going to get ready and that we needed to get going.. as she taps on her watch.. I had better run. Love you Mom and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
