Day +6… almost one week out from transplant.

To think this time, last week, I was sitting in the Guest Apartment at the hospital… afraid and dreading the morning.

Kerrie is still doing as well as can be expected right now. Her platellets and Red Blood cells are low, so they gave her transfusions of both today.

The sores, inside her mouth, and throat are getting pretty bad and she somtimes has difficulty with eating and talking… living on Orange Italian Ice, because it’s easy to swallow and makes her mouth feel better. When I left her, last night, her cheeks were all puffed up like a chipmunk.. and she was pretty miserable, but she looked so damn cute with her puffy cheeks and pouty little lips. It made me just want to hug her.

Dr. Jana has decided to put her back on the PVC pain pump ( I think that’s what it’s called), so she can control her pain meds and it looks like they will be starting the TPN IV feeding again. Her mouth and throat are causing her a lot of pain and it’s almost impossible for her to eat… this should only last another week or so though.

Even though it’s difficult for her to speak, she still called me today so that we could read out of a book of “sisters” quotes that one of my friends gave me to us. It’s got a different quote for every day, and she must not have wanted to wait until I got back on Friday to get caught up. I was thrilled when she called to read me today’s quote… almost made me cry.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better, as far as her pain goes, and she can relax a little more. At least until I get back on Friday and start my usual nagging about walking her laps, riding on the stationary bike, and doing her breathing excersizes. I’m pretty good at nagging… but she’s been just as good about complying.

I put a few of the transplant pics in the gallery, but it will take me a day or two to get them all on there. That pesky thing I have, called a job, keeps me from being able to dedicate all my time to getting the pictures uploaded and it’s getting late…because of the spam filter on the site it takes a while to upload multiple pics, so it will make the process a little slower than I want to be.. and my pillow is calling.

I’ll be sure to put more pics on tomorrow.
