Teena – Tuesday, January 11th

MOm, thanks for getting some information on here. We were at the hospital most of the past two days and no computer access.  Fuat is at the hospital with her now, while I have to be at work, and he is staying with her and her daughter/son-in-law so they are not alone either.

I am happy that he and Tommy ( her son-in-law) have some things in common it gives them both someone to talk to other than their wives 🙂

As of 2:00pm today, She is still not breathing on her own but they hope to have the tubes removed in a few hours. They have been saying that since yesterday, so we shall see what actually happens.

They wake her every few hours and ask her to hold up two fingers. She can do it on the left hand but not the rigth ( she is left handed). On the right hand she will hold up five and can’t seem to manage only two but she was able to wiggle her right thumb when asked. Right arm strength is almost nothing. If someone lifts it up, she can hold it for a few seconds but not long. It DOES Seem to work when she is trying to pull out her breathing tube. We held her left hand down, so she couldn’t pull out the tube and she reached right up their with the right hand and starting yanking at it 🙂

They keep her sedated, so they don’t have to tie her arms down and it allows her to rest more.

She has good movement in her left leg, but not the right leg.  As I am typing this I got a text update on her. They have taken her off the sedation and she is breathing more on her own. Tubes should come out within the next hour if she keeps up the breathing.

We’re just waiting to see how she is when she is off the sedation and awake/alert. I am hoping we find there has not been much brain damage, but also trying to prepare myself for worst case scenario. It looks like Ker-bear was not only preparing me for my illness, but she has prepared me for how to help Teena and her family as well.

I have no doubt Ker-bear is with her, though I have been talking to Kerrie and telling her that if she’s there she can hold Teena’s hand, but can’t take her with her. I know those decisions are up to God, but I am hoping that if Kerrie really is here it is just to give Teena support and to hold her hand.  Got that Ker- Bear?! You can visit, but no “business” trips. PLEASE.

I will try to update Mom as we know things and will try to post as I can. Fuat’s keeping me updated while I can’t be with her and I will be sure to pass the information to everyone.
