The Positive Side of Chemo
Tomorrow’s the day we meet with the doctor to hear the results of the CT Scan. God willing, everything will go well… and we expect it to.
If it doesn’t.. well, whenever something bad happens to someone people always say “look on the bright side”. Over the past few months I HAVE found some things that are the postive side of chemo ( if you can really say there is such a thing). Here’s my list:
1. Since you don’t have hair, you can sleep in later… don’t have to worry about blow drying your hair and making it all pretty!
2. Since you don’t have hair…. you save a lot of money on shampoo, conditioner and hairspray
3. Save money on razors and shaving cream.. since there is no need to shave. Great if you are getting chemo in the summer when you would probably shave most often. This also means you are spending less time in the shower.
4. Lower water bills because of shorter showers… no shampooing, conditioning, rinsing, shaving, etc.
5. Save money on make-up and again, save time getting ready in the morning… really, it doesn’t take much time to put mascara on the FIVE eyelashes you have left ( I wore it right up to the point where I only had five left.. it looks funny after that)
6. You lose a lot of wieght. Well, at least that’s what the other ladies tell me.  I DIDN’T ( Please see item # 7)
7. It’s so much easier to quit smoking.. but you put on 30 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!Â
8. You spend a lot of money, after you put on 30 pounds from quitting smoking, because none of your clothes fit and you can’t wear sweat pants to work everyday.. but once you lose the weight think of the donations you can make to Salvation Army or Good Will and then you can claim it on your taxes ( really trying to find a positive side to the weight gain. NOTHING fits )
9. You get a lot more sleep… mostly because you are so tired all the time that you can’t keep your eyes open…
10. You can get caught up your TV shows.. mostly because you have no energy and can’t get off the couch until your husband comes into the rooms and helps you.
11. In the winter, you can save money on your heating bills and just let your constant hot flashes keep you warm and toasty.
12. If you forget something or do something stupid you can always claim “Chemo brain!” ( even if it’s not 🙂 )
Although I have enjoyed sleeping in, spending less time getting ready for work and saving money on shampoo.. here’s hoping that the doctor’s report tells us everythign will be returning to normal soon.
