It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Hello Kast Family,

Does it seem possible it’s that time of year again? It all started last week, with Thanksgiving and the official start of the holiday season. I don’t care what those people think who start Christmas the week before Halloween, it’s here now!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and lots of SAFE and successful shopping 🙂 I had a great day with my son Ron and his family and his wife Alisa’s family. We all ate too much and were stuffed and happily uncomfortable together.

I put up my little Christmas tree today and thought of Kerrie as I pulled out the little things the kids had made for me over the years. The little paper rings (does anybody make those anymore?), macaroni angels, aluminum foil bells and more. I still have them and I still use them. I even have a couple of ornaments that Aunt Mary Jo gave to the kids when they were little with their names on them (Sorry Mary Jo, I won’t give them to them yet). I can give up just about any other decoration I have, but not those that have such special meaning.

Today was a special day. Ron (brother Ron, not to be confused with friend Ron who puts so many special posts on the website) and I went to see Grandma Andree and Uncle John, who is visiting. We took the wreaths that we were taking to the cemetery for Kerrie and her Grandpa. Ron put the finishing touches on them at Grandma’s house and we had such a nice visit just talking about Ker and her Grandpa and remembering. Then Ron and I went to the cemetery and put the wreaths in place along with the poinsettias Grandma had been keeping just for this time. Just as we finished and were standing back looking at them the snow started. It was wet and hard and we just looked at each other and said, ‘we just made it’. It was like the weather had held off just to give us time to finish our task. Ron and I hugged and held each other for a few moments and then got in the car and headed for home. What a bittersweet day we had, sharing all this with Grandma and Uncle John and visiting our Kerrie and Grandpa, too.

I took pictures and because I don’t know how to put them on this page I will put them on the Gallery. I want to share this time with all of you and let you know we are thinking of you. I think Kerrie is too. I have felt her around a little more lately. I think she’s coming home for the holidays. I sure hope so.

Love you all,
Joan
