    A long overdue post…

Even as I’m sitting here, ready to type, I’m not sure what to write… a lot of stuff happened over Christmas but not sure what to say or how to say it. I come to the page, every day, meaning to write.. but then find it hard to log myself on here and actually write anything. There were many times, while I was home for Christmas, that I wanted to write things as they happend, but people and things kept getting in the way.. then I would lose my energy to write and would say “I’ll do it later.” I promise Kerrie, every day, that I will do it… so…

    Dreary Winter Days

Well, the excitment of the holidays is winding down. Most of us are back to work and the last of the kids go back to school tomorrow. All the build up and planning and shopping and wrapping and cooking and eating and now it’s time to settle down for the long winter’s nap. For those of you not in Michigan, you might know that we had slightly snowy Christmas and a mighty huge snowy New Years! It was very beautiful as snow goes, but oh so deep and oh so much. Jenn and I stayed up and had a wild party to bring in the New Year. At least that’s…

    Happy Holidays Kast Family

Hello Everyone, Well, Jenn and I have been a little remiss on posting on the site the last weeks. It has been a busy season for us as I am sure it has been for you. We have had a lot going on. Jenn has been home since last week. First at her father’s and then here with us. We had a very nice Christmas.  I worked part of the day and Jenn worked here at home. I got my dinner cooked.!… Christmas dinner. Jenn did it all, including the shopping. What a treat for me…and what a nice time we had with our family, all of them. Kerrie was…

12/9/07 Light a candle in Memory of Kerrie at 7:00pm

I’ve been meaning to post something about this for days, but the time has gotten away from me and I suddenly remembered that today was December 9th. Mom wrote a little about this, in a previous post, I think… there’s an organization called Compassionate Friends that has support groups for people who have lost children, siblings, spouses, other family members and friends. Tonight they are holding a world wide event, where people will light at candle at 7:00pm ( in their own time zone) in memory of the children they have lost. Over the past several years, this event has spread and is you can find events in just about…

    Sunday December 2, 2007

Hello Everyone, Well, for those of you in more moderate climates…….Yeah! For those of us in Michigan and similiar regions, we have had our first real BLAST of winter. Freezing rain, snow, sleet, etc. It hit last nite just as I was in route with my friend Pat,  to meet her daughter for dinner. Needless to say, the senior set ate and left early as neither of us have any desire to fight that kind of weather (plus we can’t see to drive at nite anymore and we’re both afraid of falling down and hurting ourselves 🙂 I am hoping that the roads clear today, because I am looking forward…

    A DAY TO GIVE THANKS

Hello Friends and Family, Thanksgiving Day 2007. Where did the last year go? Hard to believe what we were doing just a year ago. It doesn’t seem possible that the seasons have passed so quickly. Today I drove to work very early in the dark, with the snow swirling around my car. Later in the morning I talked to Jenn in VA. She said she was sitting in her kitchen with the windows open letting the nice fresh air in. Must be nice……. maybe someday. I really tried to think today of all the things I am thankful for. Some days seems bleak and dreary, and I can’t think of…

    Sunday November 18, 2007

Hello Friends and Family, Been a while since posting. Both Jenn and I have been busy. She is still getting settled in her new home and job in Virginia. I am just trying to get settled. Hard to believe it is almost Thanksgiving. Time seems to fly and I can’t help but think back to a year ago. Kerrie was out of ICU and no one knew yet what her future held. There was talk of starting therapy for her, but not much being done yet. Her speech was still so bad, she could barely communicate except by pointing at words on a page. To think she actually came so…

    Tuesday, November 6th

Hasn’t been much time for posting.. hasn’t been much time for anything but work and unpacking. But I promised the story of my arrival in Virginia I drove down to Virginia last Tuesday. Long drive.. cat in the car crying at me most of the drive and couldn’t wait to get here. Although it was a long drive, it was pretty easy. No traffic, no delays, none of the usual problems I run into when I travel somewhere. It was easy…too easy.. I should have wondered when the bottom would drop out.. umm.. or perhaps the ceiling! Got to the townhouse and was getting everything set up to get Cutie…

    Saturday, October 27th

It’s been 3 months today… sometimes it feels like it’s been longer than that, sometimes it feels like it just happend. I went to the cemetary… cold, windy, rainy and looking very lonely. I put some silk sunflowers there to brighten it up a little bit.. Kerrie’s headstone is there now. It lookes nice. An angel on one side and a sunflower on the other. It’s been raining a lot, and the ground is kind of muddy still, so there was mud all over the place. I must have looked pretty silly trying to clean it all up in the wind and rain, but I don’t care. I didn’t like seeing…
