Tuesday, March 20 ( 11:30pm)
Just got off the phone with Mom.. she’s on her way to bed ( and me too.. just got home from work). Today was a good day for the two of them. Not overly stressed, though I’m not exactly sure it was the “relaxing” day they might have wanted. Mom and Kerrie worked on standing, balancing and dressing today. Not sure who needed more help with this.. Mom or Kerrie 🙂 The Home Healthcare Nurse was there today, but no word on when PT & OT will start. I think the Speech Therapist was supposed to start with Kerrie today, but I forgot to ask about that. Mom was able…

Tuesday, March 20
Haven’t heard from Mom today and have finally found a break in my work to try to give her a call.. but it’s now 11:00pm and she’s probably trying to get some sleep before having to be working on Kerrie’s 1:00am feeding tube change. I did get word, from Kit Hildebrandt, that Mom was getting Kerrie out of bed and into her wheelchair around noon today( when she called her).. but that’s the most info I have. I’m assuming, since I haven’t heard from her, that either everything is great today and no reason to call.. or.. it’s been so hectic that she didn’t have two seconds to try to…

A few words from Kerrie
I’m not sure how many people read the gallery on a daily basis, or if they just read the front page… you will definately want to check out the gallery for a few words from Kerrie. I tried to put this in a post on the front page, but couldn’t get it to work.. so put it in the gallery. Thanks, James, for making it possible to post it at all 🙂 Jenn

Monday, March 19
Long day, but it was a good day. This morning’s weather kept us from getting to Henry Ford on time, but things still went smoothly. Kerrie’s blood counts, and other “numbers” all look good and the BMT team is very pleased with how she is coming along in this area. We get to discontinue her daily IV of potassium, so that’s one less thing we have to do at night ( and I just learned how to give it yesterday.. oh well). The BMT Team still wants to keep a close eye on her, so she’ll be going to Henry Ford every Monday and Thursday for a while. Not sure…

Sunday, March 18 (11:57pm)
Another long day, but not as hectic as the last two. Even had time to go out and get some shopping done for Mom. Things didn’t get hectic until around 7:00pm.. and Mom and I are finally starting to slow down now and try to get ready for bed ( and the 1:00am feeding tube change). Kerrie didn’t get out of bed for too long today.. only about an hour and a half, which is definately not long enough, but tomorrow could be pretty rough so I guess we decided to let her get as much rest as possible. She was in decent enough spirits for most of the day,…

Sunday, March 18
1:00am – Refill the Tube Feeding 2:30am – The alarm goes off, on the IV Pump, showing there’s an air bubble in the line. The alarm is so loud that I jump up to turn it off.. before Mom hears it, through the monitor, and runs downstairs. I can’t find it and can’t figure out how to fix it, so have to wake up Mom. Can’t believe the alarm didn’t wake her, but knowing I’m downstairs with Kerrie probably let her sleep better. 4:00am – “Jenny.. I need to go to the bathroom” 4:30am – “Jenny.. Can you put on my ointment?” 7:30am – Mom and Kerrie are watching TV…

Saturday, March 17 ( 11:32pm)
It’s been a long, long, long long day.. I had intended to tell a story about how Kerrie and I went on Leprachuan hunts, when we were little, but I’m just too darn tired. If it had to be a choice of telling you about our day and telling you about the Leprachauns I’m sure you would rather hear about Kerrie’s day. My alarm went off, at 1:15am, but I slept through it.. the feeding tube pump woke me up when it started beeping that it was almost empty.. that noise is enough to get anyone out of bed. After running around trying to figure out what I was doing,…

Friday, March 16 (10:40pm)
It’s finally quieted down around here and what a long day it’s been. I know how tired Mom and I are, so Kerrie has got to be 10 times as exhausted. I really want to get this post on here, so I’ll try not to fall alseep at the computer while I’m typing. We got to the hospital around 10:00am and it’s been crazy ever since. There was a lot to do to get Kerrie ready, had to meet with the Henry Ford Home Health Care nurses, to go over Meds and when we got to NOMC we found out they were meeting us there! That took us a little…

Friday, March 16 6:00pm
Kerrie’s home! We got in around 2:00pm and it’s been chaotic every since ( was actually chaotic beginning at around 10:00am..) Once we have the tube feeding and med’s figured out, and have gotten something to eat ourselves, I ‘ll be sure to post some pics and an update about our day.  Kerrie’s home 🙂
