1:00am – Refill the Tube Feeding

2:30am – The alarm goes off, on the IV Pump, showing there’s an air bubble in the line.  The alarm is so loud that I jump up to turn it off.. before Mom hears it, through the monitor, and runs downstairs. I can’t find it and can’t figure out how to fix it, so have to wake up Mom. Can’t believe the alarm didn’t wake her, but knowing I’m downstairs with Kerrie probably let her sleep better.

4:00am – “Jenny.. I need to go to the bathroom”

4:30am – “Jenny.. Can you put on my ointment?”

7:30am – Mom and Kerrie are watching TV and having breakfast. Mom’s having coffee… Kerrie’s having her chocolate Boost.

The Home Health Care Nurse won’t be here until sometime around 11:00am, so maybe there will be time for a shower today.. and time to do some things like give Kerrie a bath, get the TV on a bigger stand so it’s easier for Kerrie to see, get Kerrie  dressed and in her chair.. and practice getting in and out of the car.

The nurse will only be here for a little while today, so we should have time to get some of the other things done that we need to and to get Kerrie working on some of her PT. After today, the nurse will only be here two days a week.. so things should calm down a little. At least from the standpoint of having so much going on that we can’t do what we need to do with Kerrie.  Sometime this week, she’ll start her in-home PT, OT & Speech Therapy. We’re hoping they don’t all come on the same day, so that it’s not so hectic.. and it gives Kerrie something to do every day.

Tomorrow is her first “outpatient” visit to Henry Ford to see Dr. Jana. It’s going to be a long day.. up at 4:00am probably just so we can all get ready, out the door by 8:00am.. all meds will have to be prepared ahead of time, so that she won’t miss any doses and we won’t have to try to find someplace to get them ready, we’ll have to have a change of clothes for her and everything else we could possibly need in one day.. so, we’re planning on needing to take a suitcase with us. We were told there would be a bed available for Kerrie, if she needs it, which I’m sure she will… we could be there for as long as 8 hours tomorrow and there is no way Kerrie will be able to stay in her chair the whole time. Her stamina just isn’t there yet.

The morning has started out somewhat peacefully, so we’re hoping the rest of the day will be as nice…
