Saturday, December 9th

Hello Everyone,
A cold Saturday morning in Michigan……… but supposed to get balmy in the next day or two (in the 40s….can’t wait).

It’s been a relatively quiet weekend with Kerrie. If you have been reading the web page then you know she started swallowing last Friday when I was helping her with her mouth care and she asked to drink some of the water….. 5 medicine cups later the doctor bawled me out for giving it to her before she had a swallow study. She did say she could have ice chips…..Ker solved that by letting her ice chips melt and then drinking the water. She did have a swallow study and is now getting pureed food, but doesn’t like it so she eats the applesauce and some of the soups and drinks the thickened juices….she doesn’t need it for nourishment as she has tube feedings but she does need the practice swallowing…….so we keep it up and she eats ice chips in between (which is her favorite).

She actually drives us crazy with wanting the ice chips all the time and gets upset when we try to limit the amount she has. She can only handle 4 ounces of anything in her stomache, but doesn’t always stop when she needs to, so we have to take them away from her sometimes. When she’s eating the ice chips it also means she can’t wear her humidifyer mask ( Which she’s supposed to do 24/7), so we have to take away the ice and make her put the mask on. It makes for a very fiesty Kerrie sometimes.

She had an MRI Friday night and haven’t heard the results yet……..we are hoping that the abcess is not coming back but that is a possibility. She is also being treated for a possible transplant rejection. The only way to verify it is to do a liver biopsy, but they don’t want to do that because of potential serious bleeding. So once again, they are treating out of the ordinary practice. Kerrie always wanted to be different, I wish she would be more mainstream, this is getting old. 🙂

Take care everyone, Stay warm, thanks for all you prayers as they sure are doing the job.
I will write again soon

Love Ya
