HAPPY EASTER
Happy Easter Kast Family !!!
It’s spring at last for all of us. The sun is out, and you can hear the birds and see the squirrels running through the yards and around the trees. Little green shoots are coming up all over the gardens and flower beds and it’s good to feel the warmth of the air.
I am looking at the little pots I have started to plant. Baby sunflowers are peeking their heads out of the dirt and will be getting ready to brighten up my deck in a few weeks. And of course, I am looking at the pictures of Ker that I have around the house and thinking of her.
Three years ago she was here at Easter and I’ll never forget looking at her as she was sitting in her wheelchair with the family around her and realizing she was chewing on something. She had just begun to swallow and eat and was only on soft food. She had her Easter basket in front of her, and I asked “what have you got in your mouth!”. She open it up and there was a jelly bean and she had a huge smile on her face. I told her to spit it out and she grinned again, closed her mouth and kept chewing. She didn’t choke, she didn’t cough, she just chewed and smiled and ate another one………..she was so alert and bright and was talking and remembering and it was such a hopeful day. We sang Easter Bunny songs and she laughed and joined right in with us. She wore Easter Bunny ears and looked silly and kept smiling and it was obvious she was having a good time. I will keep that Easter in my memory and heart forever.
I wish all of you a wonderful day and a wonderful spring. And I keep all of you in my memory and heart as well.
Love you all
Joan
