VISIT FROM A BUTTERFLY
Hello Kast Family,
Things have been kind of busy round these parts lately. Long hours at work, which I don’t really mind because for the first time in a long time I really like my job and what I am doing. I’m also getting ready for some painting in the house so everything is kind of torn up and in a bit of a disaster. And of course there are those last few golf games of the year while the weather holds….. so ……….. Finally had to break down the other night and turn the heat on. The sun is out during the day but the nights are getting really cool.
I was outside the other day, filling the bird feeder, picking up some things on the lawn and just enjoying the mild day. I sat on the patio for a while and then……… I saw my old friend……………… The white butterfly.
I was kind of surprised. I haven’t seen any butterflies for a while. It’s getting past the time for them…. even the monarchs are supposed to be well on their migration to the far south by now. But there she was (I always think of her as a she). She was at the end of the little flower garden my neighbor and I plant every year. She would fly up then down around the back of a plant then up again. Closer and closer until she was almost on the patio. Then she spun around a few times and flew back over across the yard and sat on another plant. She didn’t come back and I finally decided to go in, but before I did I wished her well on her journey. I don’t expect her back this year, but told her I would watch for her again next spring. It’s been nice having her around.
So that’s all for now Kast Family. Hope this finds you all well…..post when you can.
Take care all
Love
Joan

Hey Joan–I think of Kerrie and her family often and I’m glad you all are doing the best that you can! In case you don’t remember me I worked nights on L & D–what kind of position are you doing at Crittenton? I’m non-reg at Troy Beau and St Joes and it is working out o.k. for now. A lot of the rns that were at Joes are starting to branch out and go to other hospitals now. With our resisdent all gone now–it is not the same and unforunately we that are left will ALWAYS be NOMC nurses. Do you remember DR. Mike Nicholson? He is coming to your new home to work so keep your eyes opened for another familar face. Just wanted to say hi-I check the website often for hews. Take Care Love to all Deb

Of course I remember you!!! And I miss you and all of the old gang! I have always felt so bad about what happened to our OB department. I have a lot of very special and warm memories of all of you. I hope you are finding a comfortable place in the work world. I know many of the people who have left NOMC, even by choice, are feeling very adrift and displaced. It’s very difficult to uproot from a place where you have worked for so long and made so many memories and relationships. Please, please keep in touch….. and tell the other women out there to do the same. If you ever get together let me know, I would love to join you.
I am working as the manager of the Endo unit at Crittenton. I really like it, Crittenton is a very nice place to work. The people are great, right from the top down. And I’ve found I already know many of the folk there. And I will definitely be on the lookout for Mike Nicholson. He was one of Ker’s favorites you know.
Take care, thanks for posting and for being such a great person.
Love Ya
Joan
