Hello Everyone,
this will be short and sweet as I only have a few minutes to write this.
NOW HEAR THIS!!!! EXTRA !! EXTRA!! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!
KERRIE IS COMING HOME FRIDAY!!!
Doctor came in today and said “Time to go”. Next couple of days will be spent adapting medications to home use, setting up whatever needs to be set up (Clinic appointments every Tues and Thurs- van transportation for at least the first couple of visits, etc., etc.).
Kerrie’s bilirubin is not low enough yet for any further treatment. The plan now is to evaluate her twice a week and when she is ready bring her back for chemotherapy. In the meantime, going home will be a break and a moral booster for her.
I expect the first day or so to be somewhat of a challange as she is not as mobile as she was when she went in, also many of her medications have changed and I think she may have more IV Rx than before. Jenn will be home over the weekend so that will help as we get adjusted.
Once we (I) have our act together we will be ready for company……..and please plan to come! Ker loves to see people, even if she doesn’t always communicate real well. As always, call ahead. First, if too many visitors in one day she gets really tired and the late company doesn’t get to see much of her personality showing thru. Also, even tho she’s home the restrictions are still there. She is now more immunosuppressed than before. It is important that there are no more than two people at a time in the room with her. No little ones, no fresh fruit or flowers, no food items other than canned or processed or cooked right in our kitchen. If you have kids that have been sick, or you have been (or are) sick, please delay your visit until you are no longer exposed to or are capable of exposing others to any illness. If you have been working out in your yard or around flowers or plants or animals or aroung sick people (like you work in a hospital)please make sure you change clothes before coming over (molds, fungi, germs etc. can cling to your clothing).
When you do come, please refrain from kissing or getting your face close to hers. That’s a hard one for me because I keep wanting to get right down close to her and talk to her, but not supposed to (Dr. Jana would kick me if she saw me do that when I forget).
Hate to make this so restrictive, but we really need to protect Ker as much as possible, but at the same time make things as normal as we can. I hope I haven’t chased any of you away. With her home is should be much more convenient and comfortable for you to visit. If I ever get to the store I might even have some refresments available.
Ron and Alisa came over tonight to do some cleaning for me (thanks, thanks thanks you two). Need to get all the vacuuming and dusting done before Ker gets home as we can’t do it while she is in the room. I need to take the car in tomorrow for another detailing as it has gotten pretty dirty the past few weeks. And then just finish up any other cleaning………and oh, yes, go to the store so I can feed Ker – She’s spoiled with three good meals a day…. Not sure I can get by with jus Campbell’s chicken noodle soup and bread and butter anymore.
Wrote more than I planned but that’s enough for now……..if there is any new news tomorrow I’ll try to get it on….if nothing, will post again when Ker is home.
Take care all, and oh, by the way. Thanks for the prayers, I thing they are working….
Love Ya
Joan

I’m so happy for you all! Just let Kerrie know that I’m a grandma! Kate and Markus had a beautiful baby boy this am at 6:46. I emailed some pictures! He is so cute, I just know that it will bring a smile to her face. The only sad part was we were at Beaumont and not home (NOMC) where we belong. Deb Kayga
