Hi Everyone,
Been a long wait all day. Started off with a bang. Went to set KER up for her breakfast and found her feeding tube on her stomach instead of in it. Her nurse, Sandy, put another catheter right in to keep the channel open and then we waited for the doctor to come see her. He just left and said that as soon as they do an xray for placement she’s back in business. I told Sandy she should bill for her procedure.:) If the board of nursing is checking this site, that was a joke. She performed a normal step to maintain the tube opening. It’s just that the doctor said he doesn’t need to change anything.

Another thing we found today. Gave Ker some meds by mouth and they came right out the tube. This means that there is a definite connection between her bariatric stomach and the remnent stomach (We knew that but this confirms it)h. Her bariatric surgeon had said it was too bad the surgery couldn’t be reversed. Well, guess what, this is just as good. That means when Ker can eat enough to nourish herself the tube can come out……Hooraay!!!!

Ker got her premeds for her Atgam infusion a few minutes ago…….She is slowly fading and should be good and asleep real soon. Nurse doesn’t expect too much of a problem with this one as saturday went so well. But, I’m nervous just the same because the literature states the reaction can occur at any time during the infusion process.

Sorry Jess, Pat and Marian….. if I had known that this was going to be so late I would have told you to “come on down!”. Actually, if you had this would probably have all taken place sooner. You know how that goes. Last dose will be Wed. sometime……obviously I don’t know when as I guess it’s up to the whim of the pharmacy IV people. When it’s ready, it’s ready.

Not much else I can tell you all right now……will post later when this is done.
Take care all
Joan
