NEWS FROM HENRY FORD (HOSPITAL THAT IS)
Hi Everyone,
Not sure what the date is today, but pretty sure it is Thursday 🙂 Ran home to clean up and straighten up as our departure for downtown was kind of frantic yesterday. Takes so long to do things and when we are on a time schedule I tend to fall behind.
Ker had a busy day yesterday. Lots of doctors in to say hello and tell us they’d be back later for a more in depth visit. She had a CT scan of the chest last evening and other than that it quieted down. This morning before it got light I noticed that she seemed to be flushed. Thought it was the 16 blankets she sleeps with keeping her over warm. When the lights came on and as the morning progressed realized that she was having some kind of reaction….. now thought to be the CT dye. Her face is pretty puffy and her right eye is really swollen……so IV benadryl and cortisone along with everything else. Counts are still down and she will be getting two units of blood this afternoon. She had to have another regular IV put in as when the PICC line was changed two weeks ago they put in a regular single line instead of a multi line Power PICC. So that kind of complicates her getting IVs, blood, etc. as well as special Xrays. Nothing ever easy for ole Ker.
Lots of people in to see her, nurses from all over the department coming in to say hi. Seems they have been following the web site also and were anxious to catch up when they heard she was coming back in. At least she feels good about that.
Hopefully they will figure all this out real soon, if it is early transplant rejection or another infection. CT of the face and sinuses probably tomorrow, as she is having pain in the left side and took her first pain pill last nite since leaving HFH in Feb. MRI of the gall bladder also tomorrow so the surgeon can plan the type of procedure he will do when and if we can keep the date (May 15) for the gall bladder surgery.
If all goes well she should be home in a few days and back on to her routine. I certainly hope so, cause I made a big mistake today coming home to this emtpy house and I need to get her back here quick.
Take care, will keep you posted. Love You All
Joan

Hi Kerrie, I hope all goes well. You’re in my prayers. I can’t come and see you, because I can’t seem to get rid of my own cold. I start to feel better, but the cough won’t go away. I loved that you called me. I tried to call you, but you were asleep. I love you very much and miss you almost as much as I love you. Wishing to see you soon, love Donna
