So.. it turns out Kerrie may have pneumomia.

Henry Ford Hospital called, Thursday, while Kerrie and I were on our way home.. but Mom’s answering machine doesn’t beep when it has a message, so I didn’t know there was a message waiting for us.

The BMT Team called, Friday morning, to see why we hadn’t called them back. Her chest x-rays show something that could be pneumonia or a fungal infection, so they want to do a CT-Scan. Unless she starts running a fever, or her blood counts have dropped when they come to take her blood on Monday, they will do this when she goes in for her regular appointment on Friday. If they are waiting it must not be TOO serious.. but she is still very immuno-supressed, so we can’t play games with it.

We also found out of of her meds ( the one that’s $200 a dose) must be taken with a full meal. Don’t know why we weren’t told this before. The problem is Kerrie can’t eat a full meal, so they want us to give it to her with something really high in fat.. like donuts or ice cream. Ummm… she can’t have those either. She has had some sugar recently, but her bariatric surgery is going to limit the amount of sugar she can have. These things could make her sick and sugar free stuff doesn’t have enough fat in it, so we are looking at what else we can give her with it.

She and Mom skipped rehab. She wasn’t feeling well and Mom needed some sleep, so they made an executive decision and stayed in bed.

The infection has me worried, but I keep telling myself that if they are just going to start a new antibiotic, and do the CT Scan on Friday, it’s not something to be too worried about right now.

I think Kerrie’s starting to feel a little lonely again, and doesn’t get to see as many people know that she’s out of the hospital, so if you get a chance stop by and say hello, give her a call ( she’s getting much better on the phone.. though still short conversations) or send her a card and let her know you are thinking about her.
