Interesting day for Ker-bear, but glad I didn’t know about it until after.. she told me all about it when she called tonight and, of course, I had to piece together some of what she was saying but I could tell it was quite a day…
Here’s Kerrie’s version:
“Well. We went to Henry Ford and went and said Hi. Then we went down to the place where they do the stuff and then we went up to the place and we had a thing and it hurt but it didn’t. But we weren’t supposed to at first but stuff happens.”
Jenn’s Translation:
They went to Henry Ford, went up to the Clinic and got her blood work done. Then they went downstairs to Interventional Radiology and she had a new Pic line put in her arm. After that they went back upstairs, to the clinic, and she had a bone marrow biopsy even though they weren’t going to do it until her Gal Bladder surgery.
I was able to piece together that much and Mom filled in the rest. They replaced the Pic line in her arm ( Where her IV lines are) and she only has one line in now. It seems like years ago that she had three, then two.. and now finally one. Some of her meds have been changed and the Prograf has been dropped to 1 mg a day!!!! Yeah Kerrie.. time to let that immune system stop being so repressed!
Yes.. they did the Biopsy, and I was less than happy when Kerrie told me this, but she said she couldn’t feel it until it was “really, truly all the way there” ( Meaning right in her hip bone). Mom said she cried out a little.. but nothing like what it’s been like in the past… and yes, they had her good and drugged. On the way home, she told Mom “I’m stoned!”
Good Kerrie.. glad they got you good and stoned.
I know Kerrie didn’t watch Grey’s Anatomy tonight, but for anyone who did.. it was absolute crap. I know it’s a TV show.. I know they go for the drama… but come on. Be a LITTLE realistic. If you watched it, let me correct a few points
– Izzy would not be tested as a match for her daughter to have a bone marrow transplant
– They wouldn’t test her and then do the transplant an hour later
– They wouldn’t take her bone marrow like that without putting her under sedation.. with just a local ( I did not do that type of procedure.. for anyone who may have been wondering.. but I STILL know it wouldn’t have been done that way)
– She wouldn’t have been wheeled out of the procedure room and then go back to fricking work
– The daughter wouldn’t get checked in to the hospital and have the transplant that day
I could rant on for hours about everything that was wrong with that episode. My friend Colleen, whose brother had two transplants, and I were talking during commercials about how wrong it was.. and ESPECIALLY how “wrong” it was that we know so damn much about it to know it was all wrong.
For those of you that didn’t watch it. Take my word for it.. It was an absolute joke.
Enough of my being pissed off about a TV show..
Kerrie had a good day today, and the biopsy is out of the way. Mom said we should have some results by next week’s visit. They usually have them faster than that, but maybe she means we won’t hear anything until next week because everything will be great!
I will be at Cedar Point, for a meeting, tomorrow and won’t be able to post until I get to Michigan Saturday night.
If there is any news before then I am sure Mom will put it in the gallery!
