“Well Hello Ms. Andree.. Heh Heh Heh.. Well, I just called to gab at you, but you’re not home.. so give us a call. O.K. Bye”
I didn’t know whether to laugh, or cry or both when I heard this message from Kerrie on my cell phone voicemail. She was so damn cute.. “Well Hello Ms. Andree.. Heh Heh Heh”” God, I just loved that. Loved hearing her trying to be funny. I wish I could find a way to save that voicemai message forever.
Mom said Kerrie loved the new comfy “squishy” purple pillow I got for her the other day. She just sank her head down on it and gave a big “ahhhhhhhhhhhhh”. I wish I could have seen it. We couldn’t let her use it, when I first gave it to her, because it had to be washed and then airdried first.. but I’m glad she is enjoying it’s comfy purple squishyness.
Occupational Therapy came to do their initial evaluation today.. now all the departments that need to be involved with Kerrie’s care have been out to the house, but nothing has been scheduled yet. I guess they are all still waiting for their “approval” to start working with her. I’m not sure what it takes to get the approval they need but I hope they hurry. When I asked Kerrie when she was going to start rehab she said, “Oh, I guess we’ll have to wait until sometime next week for that.” I’m sure she’s not complaining, but I am ( and driving Mom crazy while I’m doing it). I want her to hurry up and get back into the swing of things..
Kerrie was sitting at the kitchen table today with both the house phone and Mom’s cell phone sitting next to her. Mom had gone upstairs and the cell phone rang, so she came downstairs and Kerrie was sitting on the phone talking to our brother Ron! Kerrie usually doesn’t say more than a few words when she’s on the phone and, if you’ve watched the video, you probably realize how difficult it is for her to speak sometimes.. so, the minute Mom showed up Kerrie told Ron “Here’s Mom” and handed her the phone. Ron.. I’m sure you know she would have kept talking to you if she could have 🙂
Mom went upstairs again.. and the house phone rang.. so she came back downstairs and there’s Kerrie, on the phone and saying, “OK.” “Uhuh.” “Alright” “O.K.” and then she hung up the phone. So Mom asked who it was …
“Oh. It was… ummm… ummmm… That was just Henry Ford”
“What did they want?”
“Uhhhhh…..” “Uhhhh….” “They still need to fix something.”
“Kerrie, were they calling about the Tube Feeding?”
“Yes.”
Hey Mom, it’s Kerrie’s darn Tube Feeding.. obviously she thought she should just handle it 🙂
The delivery service sent the wrong type of Tube Feeding and Henry Ford called to let Kerrie know they still needed to work on correcting the problem. As usual, Kerrie can’t just have any Tube Feeding.. she gets something different from the rest of the darn world. Mom has enough to get through tomorrow night though.. I’m sure they’ll get it corrected by then.
Kerrie’s new job around the house is going to be answering the phone!! I’m sure she’ll love the job as long as people don’t try to get her to talk for more than a few seconds 🙂
Tomorrow is another appointment at Henry Ford and the transport service will be there at 8:00am.. so Mom was spending tonight trying to get everything together. I’m glad they have transportation arranged for tomorrow. I would really worry about them trying to get Kerrie in and out of the car with just the two of them..
I’ll be anxious to hear how things go and will post as soon as I hear from Mom.
Kerrie sorry I didn’t answer the phone when you called to gab at me.. but I sure hope you sleep well on that comfy squishy purple pillow.
