My phone rang last night and was surprised to see the call was coming from Kerrie’s cell phone. I had missed the call, so before I called back I just sat and stared at the phone for a minute.. it was so strange to see her name on my cell phone.

Don’t know why, but when I called back I called Mom’s cell phone instead. Was later told I should have called Kerrie’s phone.. Kerrie had picked up her phone, searched for the number and called me herslef. No help from Mom. I know I should have called her phone instead.. just felt strange. Next time I’ll call her phone 🙂

Now.. PLEASE do not start calling Kerrie’s cell phone like crazy. I’m not even sure if it’s on, but I think we may give the go ahead for phone calls soon. Be prepared, she still can’t talk for long periods of time, but she is much easier to understand when on the phone with her. We haven’t had her cell phone on, or her room phone, because we know she wouldn’t be able to keep up with all the phone calls.. and if we answer the phone, we have to disinfect it before we can hand it to her. A little bit of an ordeal..but I do believe that time is coming.

Mom sounded good last night. Not as stressed as I thought she would, and she told me not to worry. Nothing will happen Tuesday, there’s no way.. so the plan is that we will take Kerrie to her Dr.’s appointment, at Henry Ford, on Friday and then take her home. That’s the plan anyway..I’ll be prepared for changes.

Mom’s probably going to put out an e-mail, since we have already received questions about visitors.. but the regulations will be the same for Kerrie when she comes home: No plants, flowers, fresh fruits or veggies, no children under 12, no colds, no one whose had the flu in the past week or so, no vaccinations within the past 3 weeks.. and anyone entering the house will need to walk directly to the bathroom and wash your hands. Or maybe the kitchen? The bathroom on the main floor will become Kerrie’s, so we may not be able to use that one. That will be a little while before she really uses that one.. so not sure what regulations Mom will place on that.

Mom will eventually begin looking for a new place to live.. someplace that will be wheelchair accessible, ranch style, etc. But, of course, I am prepared to find out that I won the mega-millions last night and we’ll just build a house that will be suitable for Kerrie. It could happen 🙂

I told Mom I was scared about Kerrie coming home, and all it would mean, and she told me that she’s scared too.. and so is Kerrie. So hopefully we will be able to make this transition as easy as possible. I’m sure it will be nice for Kerrie to be home, and more comfortable, but she will still be very confined. We need to make sure to do everything we can to make this successful and get it into her head that she’s getting better and can have a decent life. Do you hear that Ker-bear??

Ker- Bear, as soon as I win that Mega-millions I will make all of Europe wheelchair accessible and we’ll go on one heck of a trip.. and I won’t forget the Gallopigos Islands ( no idea how to spell that). I know that was going to be your “graduation” trip when you finished school. We’ll make it your graduation trip from all of this. You WILL get there!

I’m sure today will be a busy day for Ron, Mom and our cousins that are helping at the house.. wish I could be there to join in the party. Feeling better this morning, after sleeping for about 13 hours, but I know I need to stay put.

I’m sure we’ll have more news on Kerrie later today.. and with laying in bed, I have nothing more important to do than post on her web page 🙂 I’m sure there will be a few posts today.
