Getting ready to head to the airport and trying to get a post on here ( before Mom walks in the door and starts yelling, from the bottom of the stairs, that we have to get going 🙂 )

I woke up to find Kerrie laying on the side of her bed, trying to look at me through the open space in the bed rail. She had pulled herself over on her right side, scrunched her head down, wrapped her left arm around the side rail to hold herself up and keep herself steady and was just laying there looking at me.

 “Kerrie? Do you need something?”
“No.”

“What are you doing?”

“Looking at you.”

Why?”

“Because.”

“Are you trying to make sure I’m still here?”

“Yes.”
“Did you think I left and went somewhere?”

“No. Just looking.

Then she just layed there, looking at me and smiling, until she couldn’t hold herself over on her right side anymore.  God, I love her.

She had a busy day today. PT started at 9:00am, Speech was scheduled at 11:00am and OT scheduled for 12:00pm. So, I headed home to Mom’s to get ready to go tonight.Went back to the hospital, at 1:30pm, and Kerrie was still working with OT or PT.. one of them. Not sure which. PT started in the morning, but the things they were doing looked more like Physical Therapy instead of Occupational Therapy.. so maybe she had two sessions with them today.

When I got there, they had her laying on a huge table and doing leg lifts. She does a decent job of lifting her left leg on her own, but they have to help her with the right leg. She waved to me, until I paid her some attention and waved back, and then I decided I had better wait in her room so I wouldn’t disturb them.

Sitting in her room, I could hear her in the next room and every once in a while I could hear her moaning and saying “Ow OW OW.: I’m sure my visions of what they were doing to her weren’t as bad as what was really going on.

She finally came back to her room, looking exhausted, and they put her back into bed. She tried to keep her eyes open, but just couldn’t do it.. So, I sat and watched her sleep for a few hours.

When it was time for me to leave, I tried to wake her.. but it was no use. She opened her eye once, looked at me, and then went right back to sleep. I left her a note, kissed her goodbye and just stood in the doorway looking at her.  Huge pit in my stomache…Hate to leave her this way, but no choice.

I’ll call, from the airport, and hopefully Mom will be there by the time I board my plane and I can talk to Kerrie for a few minutes.

Kerrie, I’ll make the trip to Paris quick.. and when I get to London I’ll go knock on Paul McCartney’s door and tell him he has to come back with me. Don’t think I won’t do it!!! You know me better than that .. ( of course, I might get arrested in the process, but I’ll do my best 🙂 )

Mom.. the blogs are up to you for the next 8 days… do your best to keep it up. I’ll be checking the web page every time I can get to a computer.

Love you Kerrie…
