As of today, we are one month out from transplant. Happy 1 month Birthday Kerrie.. I wish we could really be celebrating this and doing something fun, like packing you up to bring you home…

According to Mom, Kerrie is doing OK and still working hard at trying to speak. When Mom left for work, yesterday morning, she told Kerrie “See you later alligator” and Kerrie tried to respond with “after while crocodil”. Although it was difficult to understand her, Mom knew what she was trying to say. We keep telling her to stick to one syllable words, but she insists on trying to speak as she normally would.

For a few days now she has been trying to tell us something about her bathroom, but we can’t seem to figure out what it is. The other day she pointed to me and then pointed to her bathroom and kept doing this. I asked all the usual questions: Do you need to go to the bathroom? Do you need me to get something from the bathroom? Is there someone in the bathroom? Are you telling me I can use you bathroom to take a shower? No matter what I asked she shook her head no and then finally gave up trying to tell me whatever it was. She did this to Mom yesterday morning, and even attempted to write what she was trying to say, but her left hand is so weak that Mom couldn’t figure out the scribble. I am going crazy wanting to know what the heck she wants us to know about her bathroom….

Kerrie shocked the BMT team yesterday.. They walked in her room, on their rounds, and Physical Therapy had her out of bed and standing next to the bed when they walked in. She wasn’t standing on her own, of course, and had to be supported, but she was out of bed and standing.. Dr. Jana said she was not only very pleased, but shocked by this.

Kerrie was not able to escape the dreaded ENT procedures this morning, but Mom said it wasn’t as bad as it has been in the past.. though she does seem to have more “crud” building up in her mouth, so we are going to have to be even more aggressive about brushing her teeth and cleaning out her mouth.

Were still waiting to see what kind of therapy the Speech Therapy team will do with her, as they haven’t been back since they day they came to evaluate her, but she is doing well with the talking.. can’t wait to see how she does after they actually start working with her. For their sake, I hope they start a program with her soon.. Mom has been asking about it every day and they may have to deal with her soon if they don’t get on the ball!

I’ll be heading back to Michigan for the weekend and can’t wait to see what she’s up to when I get there.

One more comment for all my friends in Ohio.. GO BLUE.. and for my friends in Michigan.. have a drink for Kerrie and I during the game.

    Hi Kerrie, Jenn and family,
I keep watching this website everyday to get the latest updates and do appreciated how well you keep us all informed. Keep fighting Kerrie and shocking all the doctors. They don’t understand what a tough cookie you are. Teena and I will definately be drinking on Saturday and will have the entire bar toast you for good luck. That is, if my cousin is not laying on the floor. She is determined to wear her Ohio State shirt into this Michigan territory so she may also have the fight of her life!!! Did you hear they changed the speed limit in Ohio. There are now two. One for the Michigan drivers and one for the Ohio drivers. If those Ohioians could just learn how to merge onto a freeway it would be such a blessing!!! Take care, you are all in my prayers. GO BLUE!!!!

Well, all my dear Ohio friends… if you had any hopes of winning tomorrow you can kiss that goodbye. Now that Bo S. has passed away there is going to be more fuel for the fire tomorrow. Several people at work swear he did it on purpose to make sure Michigan would win. That’s definately “Taking one for the team”.

Jenn and Joan, is Kerrie maybe asking for her nightlight that was in her other bathroom? I am glad to hear all is going ok. I hope you are all getting adequate rest, while Kerrie is resting. Miss you all talk to you soon. Sandy B

Thanks again for the update. Kerrie is amazing. I am so proud of her.
I was wondering if Kerrie can draw a picture better than letters?
How frustrating to know she has something in her brain needing to get out. It won’t be long and she will be verbalizing it.
Hang in there. Prayers coming your way everyday.

    Sandy,
the nightlight is in the room, can’t put it in the bathroom because the shelf
is in the way, but IT IS THERE,, and on every night……….we all love it!
