Day +2 and everything seems to be going as the doctors planned.. or at least that’s what they tell us!

Kerrie’s blood counts are still dropping and she should be completely Nuetropenic ( without an immune system) by Friday. I questioned why the transplant was done before she was completely Nuetropenic, and the doctors explained it, but I don’t think I would be able to get the explanation right. Bottom line is the doctors says it is better this way. I’ll trust them on that.

I’m finally able to walk without too much pain, but Kerrie doens’t feel much like walking at all and stayed in bed most of the day. She’s having a very hard time keeping food down… she’s already barely eating as it is but we hope this will improve soon. She’s been getting less than 400 calories a day, so the doctors are going to try some different things to see if they can help her not feel so sick to the stomache.. and see if that helps her eat more. They want to try to keep her off the TPN IV Feeding as long as possible, and they don’t seem too worried about her food intake… so I’ll try not to worry either.

It’s still too early to tell if the transplant will be successful, but we are pretty hopeful. Her immune system should start to come back around day +14 so we still have a little while to wait.

Until then we’ll keep going as normal and hope we don’t start to see any signs of rejection.  Kerrie’s trying to keep her spirits up, but she’s tired… and feeling sick a lot.. and generally wants to sleep. That should pass soon too…
