I don’t think any update I could have given, yesterday, would have been as good as the post Kerrie put on. For those of you who are wondering.. Yes.. she typed it herself. It took her 10 minutes to do it, but she did it on her own with no prompting on the spelling or what to say. My only part in it was getting it on the page. The Admin page would be a little difficult for her, so she typed it in Word and we just did a little cutting and pasting into the Administration page.

It’s been a pretty good day so far! We were both exhausted last night and fell asleep by 7:00pm. Kerrie was out for the count, and I kept trying to tell myself to get up and get into my PJ’s.. never made it. Except for breifly waking up at 1:30am and 5:00am we both slept for close to 13 hours.

She’s been feeling a little sick to her stomache lately, but we haven’t been able to pinpoint what’s causing this. Her platellets keep dropping, and they did a transfusion the other day, but the the Dr. said he was concerned about why the were dropping so they may want to do some tests this week. He mentioned looking at her liver and kindeys, but said the words we probably dread the most… Bone Marrow Biopsy.

We know they have to check everything out, and figure out what’s going on, but these are so painful for her that I can’t stand to think of them doing it to her again. The last time she had one, they said they finally understood what we meant about needing to totally sedate her and they wouldn’t do it again without putting her under.. so they had better do it.

I told Mom that, if I have to, I will refuse to go back to work this week.. cancel my recruiting trip in Europe.. and lay accross her on her bed if that’s what it takes to make sure they don’t do a bone marrow biopsy without completely sedating her.

We won’t let it happen!

This will probably mean a delay in getting her back to NOMC, but we all know it’s important to make sure these other problems are taken care of first. We know she’s falling behind in her rehab, and will possibly go completely backwards before we get her back there, but the infection, etc. needs to be dealt with first.

As someone said to Mom yesterday, “Get her well and then worry about the Rehab.”

In the meantime, we try to work on things here but just do not have the ability to do the kind of stuff they can work on at NOMC.
Right now, Kerrie and I are getting ready to work on brushing teeth and doing the oral exercizes for Speech Therapy.. then we’ll try some Physical Therapy. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

As I’m sitting here she has fallen asleep again.. anything to get out of brushing her teeth and doing therapy 🙂 I let her wait until the show she was watching was over..looks like I will have to wake her up.

No rest for you… your slave driver sister is here!

Seen from a different angle, this troubled period in Kerrie’s life seems to have been good for the whole family that it has drawn you all together. I’m not commenting on your family, per se, but reading the many, many replies on the Gallery yesterday……..well, she has brought out so much love from everyone. That’s a good thing! Thank you Kerrie. And you all are so special.
