A set-back

On Monday morning we received news that Kerrie has developed acute Luekemia ( AML)

The Luekemia must be brought into remission, before we can go ahead with the bone marrow transplant, so Kerrie has been admitted into the hospital and has begun chemotherapy. We’ve been told this may take up to 5 weeks. If all goes well, we’ll begin the process for the transplant. If, within the next 5 weeks, she does not go into remission they will begin the chemo process again.

We were all very dismayed by this, but are hopeful things will go well and we can get the “show on the road” as soon as possible.

Kerrie will be in the hospital for at least the next 4 – 5 weeks, but has a great staff taking care of her and a nice room with a pretty view. I’ve been staying in the hospital with her and plan to be there throughout the end of the week. After that I will have to return to Ohio for a short time. Staying in a hospital isn’t all that bad.. if you’re NOT the patient 🙂

Thanks for all the cards, videos, stuffed animals and e-mails that you have been sending. They really brighen her up and she needs all of the bright spots she can get right now.  Last night we decorated her room with her cards, stuffed animals, pictures, etc. and she definately has the most decorated room on her floor. My goal is for her to have the most decorated room in the entire hospital 🙂

For those of you who mentioned sending flowers, plants or fruit we would like to say thanks, but please do not send these items . They aren’t even allowed on the floor as the pesticides, etc. could be fatal to someone with no immune system.

We will try to give everyone daily updates, so please check back often. Once the message boards are ready I know Kerrie would love to hear from you. I’ve given her my laptop and they should have her room equipped with internet in the next day or two.

Hi Kerrie, Denni and I are at work right now. We are reading the updates on your website and thinking about you. We miss you so much. Right now our project at work is designing a flyer for your bake sale. I think I am going to bake mini loaves of bananna bread. Denni is going to make cookies. The kids will help her. I knitted a hat for you but when I tried it on I couldn’t stop laughing so I’ll do another. This one was made with fun fur and when I put it on I looked like my head was about the size of a bowling ball and furry. Denni is blond now. Rana delivered on 8-3 @1917 shiftchange and Post delivered @0655 8-2 shiftchange why do doctors always have to pick the worst time for everything? Is there anything you need? Don’t hesitate to ask. We miss you!!!!!!!
